Humor in the Rain

“A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs.  It’s jolted by every pebble on the road.” – Henry Ward Beecher.

How very true.  Children are able to burst out laughing at things that send adults spinning on their axis.  They bang into a wall and after a quick sob start to crack up with each other.  Humor diffuses stress; heals wounds; relieves pressure; builds bonds; shifts perspective.

Hashtag FWP

First World Problems.  Of more than 7 billion people, we hit the lotto. UNICEF reports 768 million people do not have access to safe, clean drinking water, and 2.5 billion people live without proper sanitation and 3.4 million die each year as a result.  Daily 2,000 children die.  So pretty much whatever happens to me today is at best a minor inconvenience.

Shadow Self – Liability to Asset

I am intense. My mind fires off ideas at such an explosive rate that I’ve taken to writing down my thoughts to keep track of them all.  My intensity helps me solve problems; helps me focus on and accomplish goals; helps me hone in on the nuances of human behavior; to gain insight & understanding.

I used to deny my intensity.  I used to say things like “what are you talking about I’m not intense, you are just shallow”.

Balance and the Merry-GO-Round

It’s so easy to get out of balance and perhaps many of us have never experienced it!  For many it may just be a concept as we smoke, drink, work too much, avoid too much or allow hate, lust or greed to drive us.  Ironically we chase all those diversions as an attempt to find happiness; then wonder why it eludes us.
