Self; The Bottomless Pit

Most people’s favorite topic is themselves.  When they are not talking to others about self then they are thinking of self. Endless thoughts of what they need, what they want, what they are not getting, bombard their mental space.  As we focus on self our world shrinks and so do our possibilities.  The more we focus on self, the smaller becomes our world view.  We see only our image in the mirror and the incessant needs of self become a bottomless pit. Failure and Vulnerability

Is it possible that failure can lead to vulnerability?  When we are in ‘the zone’ we are more likely to help others, to ‘do it all’ our ourselves, to be the givers because we can.  What happens when some major change hits our life.  All the sudden we find ourselves reaching out for help; even though we may not really want to.   Continue reading

Regret

Master Oogway on Kung Fu panda says it best “Yesterday is history.  Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift.  That is why it is called the ‘present’.”  We know this to be true.  This is an example of knowing does not equate to doing.  If we know this to be true, then what do we gain from dwelling in the past, or projecting into the future?  When we dwell in the past we experience depression.  We can project into the future we experience anxiety.  When we stay in the moment, we are at peace.  In this moment, is where peace dwells.
